I have been baking

I have been baking and reading and doing other things worth blogging about (not sewing), I just haven't been blogging. There just hasn't been time and it hasn't been a priority.

Here is what finally got me back on the computer: Buckeye Cake

Even though Brent didn't really want me making my own birthday cake, I did. I wanted a reason to bake and to bake what I wanted, not what someone else requested or what I thought they would like. This recipe from Taste of Home.com was great! I changed it slightly to fit what I had in the pantry and then served it with fresh whipped cream. It was fabulous! The first layer is a dense, brown-like in texture cake, but pretty mild in chocolate flavor. The middle layer is the really rich peanut butter layer and the top is peanut butter chocolate ganache that puts it over the top. It is like a Reece's peanutbutter cup in a cake!

I didn't get a picture of the whole cake and almost didn't get a picture of even this slice. Then right before I was about to dig into the last piece for breakfast I thought to take a picture.
