Yeah Me!

On the way home from my doctor's appointment today I wanted to go get a big button to wear that said, "I'm a 6.4!" I had blood work taken last week and saw the PA today. Since my last A1C three months ago, my three month average has dropped 2 whole points and is now in the "good control" zone!

I feel so accomplished. This "high" I am on, will hopefully keep me inspired to test, record and shoot up. The PA did want to keep working to bring it down below a 6, which is normal, normal, not just good for a diabetic. To help with that she wants me to: 1) Start testing every night before bed time. Hopefully this will give me some idea to why my morning blood sugars have been inconsistent. 2) She wants me to start recording everything. I am really dreading this. The idea of a diabetic journal seems really inconvenient and my goal has been to be in control without everybody knowing about it. But starting tomorrow I will be writing down everything I eat, including amounts and my estimated carbs count and my pre blood sugar level, my bosul of insulin and now 3) a required, 2 hour after eating blood sugar level. I have been testing about 3 times a day and now she is pushing that up to 6-7.

All these new requirements though were given at a good time, after a successful A1c. I know myself well enough to realize that if I hadn't lowered my A1c at all I would not be willingly working and pushing myself , I would be fed up. But a 2 point drop does the soul good, not just the body! Another good thing about being below 6.5, I don't have to go back to the doctor until July! Going every 6 weeks was getting annoying.

Where's my button?

  1. You're so funny! Glad I don't have to write down what I eat....I'd never admit the snickers and DP for breakfast..... :)
