Diabetes Front

Well, among all the trauma this week, I also had an appointment with my endocrinologist and my optometrist. All is still pretty good on the diabetes front. First was the optometrist. My prescription hasn't changed, but he did find two drusen spots on both of my eyes. He said it is nothing to be worried about right now, but it does mean that I need to start being checked twice a year by an Opthomologist. From what I read online about drusen spots, he is right. They are nothing to worry about but can be a precursor to things that are.

Next, the endo: My A1C has gone down even more and is at an even 6.0. If you remember three months ago I was thrilled with my 6.4. I had a new nurse this time and when I asked about my level she responded, "Sorry, it is still out of range." and I started to get frustrated. Then I asked what it was and then with a relieved smile on my face explained to her how I started with a 9.4 nine months ago. Dr. Haque was satisfied with my 6.0 too and told me to keep it up. I was hoping he would say that 6.0 was so good that I wouldn't have to go back for 6 months, but no, I still have to go back in three.
