Today's Appointment

I went to see my endocrinologist again today to discuss my progress and more about the insulin pump. Going into it I was 99% sure I wasn't going to get a pump, but I was still open to the doctor's opinion. After down loading my numbers from my blood glucose monitor he agreed with me, that a pump isn't required at this time. The changes he made in my insulin (doubling my lantus) and the refresher Kerri gave me to carb counting at meals and exercising have gotten me dramatically closer to being in control without the pump. I am not where I need to be yet, but it is certainly obtainable. Dr. Haque still thinks that I will still need a pump sometime within the next 5, but not now. I go back to see him in 6 weeks.

On a side note, Dr Haque went into more detail about my 1.5 classification. He said that there are 2 blood tests results he looks at. The first is the antibodies that attack the cells in the pancreas. I have these antibodies, which would make me a type 1, except that test 2, that tests C-peptide levels, are too high. A type one levels would be less than 1.0, mine were 1.4. A type two would be in the 3-4 range. He summed it up though that I am closer to being a type 1 than 2 and will be treated as a type one.

I am feeling very optimistic and will hopefully be in control, ready to start trying for baby #2 by June!
